I prepare each quote individually—though the price is usually similar or identical to what you see with sample designs in the store. The "from" refers to the fact that you might want a variant of the selected model or additional options—faster turnaround, accessories, or a hard case instead of a soft cover.
The most extensive project I've completed so far cost 13,500 PLN. Only truly unusual configurations go higher. How much does a handpan cost in 2026?
In short: from about PLN 5,000 upwards. Professional Series (9–14 notes, stainless steel) is usually in the range of PLN 5,000–7,000. Mystical Series (up to 21 notes, 1.2 mm Premium steel) starts at around PLN 5,700. My most extensive projects reached PLN 13,500.
The final price depends on several factors: the number of notes, the density of their arrangement, the types of sound fields, the presence of non-standard sounds (very low or very high), the type of steel, the experience of the maker and the waiting time – usually 2–3 months, because each piece is made to order (the Express option shortens the delivery time by one month).

What is a handpan and why does it sound different from everything else?
The handpan grew out of Caribbean steelpans and luthiery experiments of the early 2000s. It's two glued hemispheres of steel with embossed sound fields. You strike it with your fingertips, not a stick. The sound is soft, long-lasting, and carries harmonics you won't hear in any classical percussion instrument. Many players tell me they've sat down "for a moment" and stood up within an hour.

What does the price of a handpan really depend on?
The price of a handpan is the sum of several specific things:
- The maker's experience. The Professional Series employs craftsmen with many years of experience. The Mystic Series employs even more experienced makers, specializing in mutant and low-pitch instruments. I test both series in the same way—no instrument is released until the tuning plays perfectly.
- Number and density of notes. The more notes and the more tightly spaced they are in the hemisphere, the more difficult the work and the higher the price.
- Type of steel. Stainless steel, nitrided steel, and premium steel differ in color, resistance, and durability. I'll break down the differences in a separate post: Premium vs Stainless Steel - How to Choose a Material.
- The pitch of sounds. Very low and very high tones require more precise tuning, so they cost more.
- Type of notes on the bottom. They can be standard or in the form of "dings" - the latter increase the complexity of the execution.
- Firing in the kiln. Instruments fired in a kiln, rather than with a torch, stay in tune much longer. Even heating of the body reduces stress in the steel, resulting in a more consistent and stable sound over time.

The low tone is a greater challenge for the tuner, so the surcharge increases with the depth of the sound.

Densely spaced notes pose a greater challenge for the tuner. It's easier to make a 13-note instrument with 9 notes at the top and 4 at the bottom than to cram them all into one shell of your "turtle.".
Therefore, treat the "handpan price from:" field for products only as a guide. Two instruments with the same number of notes can cost completely differently – the differences are determined by the arrangement of notes, tuning height, and construction details.

What is the process of ordering a handpan like?
Each handpan is made to order. You choose:
- number of notes,
- scale,
- steel type,
- instrument colour,
- additional components and accessories.
We burn the steel in a furnace, not with a regular burner – this ensures that the outfit remains stable for much longer.
Before shipping, you receive a recording of the specific item for approval. You hear the exact sound you'll receive—no surprises. I ship the finished handpan from Gdańsk to Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, and the rest of the country in 1-3 business days, as well as internationally. The entire process typically takes 2-3 months, and with the Express option, a month less.
What is a handpan used for?
Handpan works well in several completely different worlds:
- Relaxation and meditation. Sounds work great during yoga, meditation, massage and sound therapy.
- Concerts and festivals. The sound attracts attention and provokes improvisation.
- Personal development. It helps you calm down and lower your stress levels – many players treat it as a daily reset.
What to look for when buying a handpan?
- A proven store. Look for a place that advises on selection, answers the phone after the sale, and services the instrument.
- Material quality. Ask about the type of steel and the method of production—this is evident from the first week and long afterward. More in the guide about materials.
- Personalization. The ability to adjust the scale and configuration is a big advantage.
- Beware of the cheapest offers. Cheap, mass-produced handpans often fall apart after a few weeks. I've heard this from many people who have played such instruments before and come away disappointed.

The Professional Series, starting at around 5,000 PLN, is perfectly adequate for a start. The 9- or 10-note instrument is easier to master and provides a good starting point. However, the 10-note version offers slightly more possibilities – you can play everything you can on a 9-note instrument, and the extra note opens the door to new melodies and simple arrangements.
However, I personally recommend the Mystic Series more often: for about 1,000 PLN more, you get a premium steel handpan, refined by a maker with much more experience. This difference is noticeable not only at first, but also much later on—when you're already playing well and start demanding more from your instrument.
